some more work on my arm

I had some more work done on my arm. I'm really pleased with it now, it's really starting to look like a really cohesive and complete sleeve. It consists of a new flower (which was done free-hand and is the best one yet, I think), some writing on the inside of my forearm and a bit of shading around Flaubert:

So next I need to get another flower on my elbow, to join up the other two, and then complete the shading around Flaubert and the newest flowers. Exciting times!

most recent ink addition

Here's the most recent work I've had done on me sleeeeve. I had it done two weeks ago or so on 29th Feb at my usual place in Leeds (http://www.inkvssteel.co.uk/ if you're interested, which you should be- highly recommended).
I got a new flower on my elbow-pit, three new little leaves and Flaubert Flament got an outline:

Obviously the leaves will be green eventually.

Here's the flower up close, it wasn't very painful but definitely the tattoo of mine with the most traumatic healing process - wrapping it up with clingfilm restricted my arm movement, and it was much more tender to the touch than any of my others, also right along the elbow crease it didn't really get the chance to heal, so scabbed over, and is ever so slightly faded there:
And here is Flaubert up close, he's positively glowing now. I actually saw him smile for the first time once he'd been outlined. It might have been wind though:

Here's a picture of it in context with the rest of my arm:

So next I'll get the leaves filled in, and some shading around the flower and Flaubert to match the top of my arm, then I'm getting a flower here: (excuse the crude drawing, I'm no Paint expert)

and some writing here:
Hopefully I'll be able to get more work on it in early April, Ideally I'd like it all done by my birthday on the 17th, but that all depends on my finances.

C'est Flaubert le flamant sur mon forearm.

Salut Flaubert! C'etait le deux semaine anniversaire de Flaubert hier.
Félicitations mon Flaubert!

bone by bone. stone by stone

Here is my new (free!) ink- some lyrics from Bjork's Who Is It? in the font used for Vespertine (which is where the design for my swan on my left arm first came from).

They're a little out of focus, they look much crisper in real life.

When I have my arms down by my side you can barely see them, which was the intention. I'm very pleased :o) but it will be a long time before I can get any more tattoos- as I'm leaving Leeds in the next few days and I don't want to go through the trauma of finding another tattoo artist that I like as much as my current one!

tattoo two

Well, here is tattoo two so far. It was a bit more painful than the first one - just because the surface area is bigger- so it was more sore towards the end, and work was being done on skin that was already feeling tender. Still an enjoyable experience though.

This is the inside of my arm here:

I've not braved having a shower yet- so apologies for the line of congealed blood around the top here.

This is the best view, but a funny angle:

This is it from the back of my arm- again another clumsy camera angle.

I'm so pleased with it so far! I'm getting the rest of it finished on the 21st of the month for free- which is good. I'm booked in for another three hours, the flowers will get finished and there will be some shading in the background. Can't bloody wait!
Better go and attempt to wash it now. OUCH.

my decorated arm

So after YEARS of twittering on about it, I finally got round to having a tattoo. I was ridiculously anxious about it before hand, but rather suprisingly, I really enjoyed the whole experience. Firstly, it really doesn't hurt half as much as I imagined it would, obviously it was a bit painful, the part nearest my arm pit, and the bits on my bingo wing were the most painful, but certainly not unbearable- and the colour and shading was actually a really enjoyable sensation. I think I forgot about the pain because I was so busy watching the process- which was fascinating, and I was totally naive to how it all worked before hand, I heartily recommend that if you get the chance you should go and watch someone getting tattoed, it's so interesting. I also found the way I bled to be really interesting as well, I've never watched so much blood come from me without being in pain, but it just seeped out from the flower like dew and didn't mix with the ink at all. I'm so glad I did it, and I love the end product. There is more to do on it still, but for now I'm just fighting against nature and trying to stop it scabbing!!
